Shiatsu is a non-invasive, holistic Japanese therapy, merging Western anatomy and physiology knowledge with ancient Oriental medical philosophy. Shiatsu translates as 'finger pressure' and the essence of Shiatsu is simply communication through touch.
Oriental medicine aims to maximise and balance the body's 'life force' or energy (referred to as Qi or Chi). Qi flows through our bodies in channels known as meridians and defines our state of wellbeing - anything adversely affecting the flow of Qi will affect the body, mind, soul or spirit (separate entities in Chinese Medicine theory).
